Music Ministry is an integral part of the liturgy providing an opportunity for the worshipping community
to participate in musical prayer that is uplifting and unifying.
Goals/Objectives
- Continue musical education and collaboration between music groups
- Commonality in music: Responsorial Psalm, Service Music
- Encourage worshipping community's participation, provide lyrics possibly with some type of projection series
- Invite more musicians/singers to participate in groups
- Recruit one person as a sound system operator for the group
- Gently lead the worship community in new prayer experiences
- Continue growth of unity between all liturgical ministers and the assembly
- Provide musical support for a monthly youth Mass
Guidelines
- To discuss and plan common service music, common Responsorial Psalms, as well as seasonal entrance music for Advent and Lent, representatives from each group will meet seasonally.
- Music selections will be based on the theme/readings of the liturgy and reflect a commonality with the goal of bringing the congregation together.
- Share ideas and music while allowing for individual choices that fit the particular style and talents of the various groups
- Participate in continued education in music ministry
- Music groups set high standards for themselves, striving for improved presentation while maintaining a focus on goals
- Music groups shall maintain a schedule which provides a regular time on and time off
- Music groups will always be open to new members
Office Goals and Objectives
- Provide several congregational hymnals for review. Collect feedback from all music groups
- Explore the feasibility of a projection system/license for congregational music
- Provide sound system training with the goal of having a designated sound person as part of each group
- Maintain equipment - pianos, organ, sound system, etc.
- Provide resources as needed
