Vickie Welsh, Director of Formation

I was born in Colorado Springs. I graduated from Palmer High School, and Pikes Peak Community College with a degree in Expanded Duty Dental Assisting. I have been married 27 1/2 years to my wonderful husband Michael and we have two children. Jill is a junior in nursing school at Regis University in Denver and Jared is a junior in High School. We have lived in Castle Rock for the past 9 years.

My passion is the outdoors. I am a hiker who loves to fish and camp. I also love to garden, especially flowers. I also love doing stain glass and cooking. When I'm not doing one of the above I am reading.

I have been involved in ministry since my early 20's. At the age of 29 my volunteer ministry became a paid position and I have worked for the Diocese of Colorado Springs for the past 16 1/2 years. I was the CRE (Coordinator of Religious Ed.) for the elementary level to include the Catholic school and Public school programs, at Corpus Christi Parish for 7 years. During that time I attended a masters LIMEX program in religious education offered by the Diocese through Loyola University of New Orleans. We then moved to Castle Rock and I began working at St. Francis of Assisi as their Youth Minister and Remembering Church Director. I was there for 4 1/2 years and obtained my certification in Youth Ministry at that time. I worked at Ave Maria in Parker for a year as Elementary Director of RE for over 1500 children. After that year I was offered the position at Our Lady of the Pines and have been Director of Religious Education for 5 years.

At Our Lady of the Pines I am responsible for all of the Elementary RE programs, all of the Adult formation to include sacramental preparation for 1st Reconciliation and 1st Eucharist, RCIA formation and Remembering Church formation to include those sacraments, Vacation Bible School and all the other things that fall under Elementary and Adult formation. I also sit on various committees and commissions for the Diocesan office of Total Christian Education.
